Segment 2

Process for Opening Segment 2 Begins December 27th - December 31st

Weather permitting, the process of switching northbound I-75 traffic to its pre-construction configuration is scheduled to begin at 7am, Friday, December 27th.  By the end of the day, Tuesday, December 31st, it is expected that northbound I-75 traffic will be using the new northbound pavement. Three northbound lanes will be open except for one mile from Big Beaver Road to Wattles Roads, where only two lanes will be open due to the ongoing work on a sound wall at the shoulder over the Winter months.  The northbound exit ramps are also expected to open as work progresses.  Southbound I-75 will have to be reduced to one lane starting at 7am on Friday until 7pm on Tuesday, December 31st to continue the opening process with all southbound lanes and ramps opened by the end of the year. Crews need to safely remove 9 miles of temporary concrete barrier wall off the southbound lanes and restripe the freeway before opening.   It is anticipated that by 7pm on December 31st, all exit and entrance ramps on both sides of the freeway and the all the freeway lanes will open to traffic (pre-construction configuration).  Thank you for your continued patience as we try to wrap up this complex and extensive construction project for the Winter season.  See full press release.
